Google Maps Traffic

Google Maps now includes a traffic button on it's popular mapping service maps.google.com. It shows live traffic reports for major roads such as motorways or highways. This information as been available for sometime from the Highways Agency in the UK. The system on Google Maps is global and can help you plan a route that could minimise delay. A nifty feature is to click Change next to the words Live Traffic when you are in Traffic view. This allows you to see average traffic levels at any time on any day of the week so you can plan your trip for next Wednesday morning around predicted traffic bottle-necks.
It is another really useful feature from Google Maps.

Just as a reminder CTRL + ALT + A in Google Earth brings up a flight sim!

Digital Camera Magazine's website Returns

Following our story on the hacking of www.dcmag.co.uk we can now bring some good news! Digital Camera Magazine's website is now operating normally again after being hacked a few weeks ago. The administrators have posted the following message apologising to forum subscribers:
"Welcome back to the site. You may be aware that we recently closed dcmag.co.uk following a malicious attack from unknown users. These users accessed an administration interface that allowed them to send an offensive email to our registered users. The DCMag team apologises for any offence this may have caused you." So it is now safe to return to www.dcmag.co.uk

Sorry to have not posted recently but there hasn't been much to blog about except the snow in the UK, but I think www.bbc.co.uk/news had that just about covered with national and local reports and users photos. Anyway, Skype has had an overall so it's got full screen video calls and a generally improved user interface. A beta is also available for mobiles

Skype the online service that enables people to make free telephone calls via the internet has overhauled its software to ensure better signal quality and more stable videocalling. See full article from Telegraph.co.uk or www.skype.com
