The latest public release of
Google Chrome,
version 17, features a streamlined "new tab" button. This is only a small change to the already sleek UI. Google have simply removed the "+" label from the button. This has been a feature of Google Chrome Canary (the development version of Chrome) for some time. The images below show the old and new "new tab" buttons.

Those with a keen eye will spot that the old version of Chrome is on Windows 7 and the new version is on Mac OS X.
ReplyDeleteI miss the + symbol. It doesn't feel right without it. Why remove it? What's the point? It just makes it less obvious what the button does. Less user friendly for beginners.
ReplyDeleteI would agree with that, some people are still going to be new to Chrome and may not realise what the button does. I think this feature should of remained in the developer version "Chrome Canary"
